Spent the Thanksgiving holiday down on the South Carolina coast near Hunting Island State Park. Before heading back to the mountains we stopped to take in the evening light. This is a 6 shot pano of a beautiful sunset out in the lowcountry.

Hey Andy,

What a cool looking shot with some beautiful light. The gold on the horizon though looks too saturated to me, I would use a mask and pull it back along the horizon quite a bit. That smog layer that likes to turn golden orange can pop way too much if we aren't careful.

You did great with the clouds. They can be hard to handle in a pano.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the comments. Much appreciated. Jim, I'll check out lowering the saturation along the horizon, thanks.

FWIW, the horizon saturation (or not) looks about what I am familiar with with sunsets here in the south (Pensacola, Florida). Andy - if it is like what you saw, I'd probably leave it as is. Heck, I've seen some pretty radioactive sunsets here - probably more saturated than what you show in the image.

That said, toning it down probably wouldn't hurt, but I don't think you need to. My 2 cents.....

Oh! and BTW - great image!!

Great shot... I'm headed to Beaufort next weekend to visit family and I'm very familiar with the area.

Is this from the long dock across from the main park? Or is it just from a pull-off on the roadside?

From the marsh walkway, the one you mentioned. Thanks.

Beautiful image. The leading line created by the water is very nice.

I've got to agree with JimKled. The saturation is about right for a coastal Southeast Sunset. I might pull the shadows down a bit on the trees at the horizon below the sunset. I think the grey there may be contributing to the feel of over-saturation in the sky directly above it.

Once again, I appreciate the comments.

river rover, I hadn't noticed the lighter trees on the horizon, your suggestion is a good one. Thanks.

This is a beautifully composed shot and perfectly exposed. What would be the pixel dimensions of your final pic after stitching?

I always use a lot of overlap in each frame in portrait orientation, so this image measures out at 10563 x 5107 pixels. Not as wide as one might expect for 6 frames. However it is seamless upon close inspection.
