Fantastic set, but for me having spent a lot of years in a stand, the buck going under the fence, and the last, stand out for me! Thanks for posting your work!
1 is the clear winner for me Nick, but they are all very nice. This is not a criticism, but a question: in 2, the head and horns look a little large for the body to me. Do you see this, and could it be a combination of the angled pose and the relatively short lens?
Thank you for your post! I just checked the exif data and I used a 70-200mm lens, zoomed out to 175mm (according to the EXIF data I looked at).
I do very well remember that deer because its antlers were huge and very thick, and although I am not a hunter, I suffered from buck fever at that moment! !

I was surprised when this happened, I was thinking the deer would jump the fence, but for whatever reason, he decided to go under the fence rather than over it!
Every once in a while a shot from the nature section grabs my attention enough to lure me out of the landscape forum. #1 is a standout among most I've seen. Great use of lighting, getting out during perfect fall colour, and that original looking pose is only a bonus! You got my vote.
Awesome is such an over used word these days, but I can't help to pull it out here for its true meaning and connotation in this instance. Beautiful set Nick, and that first one is awesome.
