I wanted to share my favorite frame from my Summer 2013 monsoon photography shoot in southeast Arizona. I've posted to the group twice some frames from this trip.. but I finally got around to processing my favorite one.. which I share here. It's a pano 1:3 crop from one frame. The light at sunset was something like I've never seen and the lightning was phenomenal over the Dos Cabezas Mountains (near Willcox, AZ)

Yeah this is just epic! Sometime things just line up perfectly!
Another "epic", lol. Thanks! Yeah this was truly a magical moment. The truly artistic moments in storm photography don't show up that often... hence the 2.5 week trip to hopefully capture that one frame! -Mike

Great lighting strike! Did you use a lightning trigger of some sort?
Yes, that's part of my arsenal. In fact I have two bodies with them. It's really a must for golden hour lightning photography. Thanks for the compliment! -Mike

That's really spectacular. I used to shoot lightning the old-fashioned way - Luck, time exposures and a bit more luck.
Which trigger device do you use? Have you tried more than one?
Thanks for sharing,
Eric
Hi Eric, thanks for the compliments. I use a device simply called "Lightning Trigger", trademarked brand (www.lightningtrigger.com). I also used a similar device that's sold on B&H Photo by AEO Photo. They both work by the same principal, detecting rapid luminosity changes in the infrared that lightning causes. It is not fool proof, as there is shutter lag that obviously plays into the fact that not every flash is captured (lightning is pretty fast!).
