An interesting lens, but truly ugly bokeh, IMO. I much prefer the Minolta Rokkor 28 f/2. It's bokeh is a little harsh wide open too, but is beautiful stopped down just a little. After trying a few SLR 28 f/2 lenses, the Rokkor was my favourite.

I think I need to do a f/1.2, f/4, f/8 test on a tripod at infinity with my nex 7 + 35/1.2, just to see if I can reproduce this softness at infinity.
You may want to vary the shutter also, as some are claiming it make cause shake.
I hope not for some of them. I am still trying to figure out a 28mm lens for the A7r. I have just watched 3 Leica R 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2 sell all of a sudden on ebay.

Hello Rich
Nice crowd here in general. I have a PC 28/2.8 R that I have never used. I will probably try my 19 and 21-35 first to see how the R lenses perform.
As far as the camera for landscape I do believe it is not a hand held camera for so much street (for my hands) unless you pump up the ISo and speed since small movements get translated directly to the sensor. I see many fuzzy images all over the place.

Hi Lou,
I am not sure about hand holding the camera. A lot of people are indicating there is no problem. I will reserve comment till mine arrives. But, I am not as steady at holding a camera as I was before I broke both wrists in 1993.
I too have the Leica R 28mm f2.8 Super Angulon that I purchased largely for PC and for flat stitching of images. It is a bit large and heavier than I would like certainly for some outings and applications. I also have the R 24mm f2.8 Elmarit and the R 21mm f4 Super Angulon. The Super Angulon is suspect in particular will be softer than I would like toward the edges and corners but I will check all of these lenses once I have my A7r.
Some more from the R-mount 24 2.8 and one from the R-mount 28 2.8. Shout if you want me to stop posting non-M-mount images in this thread but I figure people will be interested in the R-mount shots as well.

I think the link is wrong. Should be this one? http://3d-kraft.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=148:ultra-wide-angle-m-mount-lenses-on-sony-a7r&catid=40:camerasandlenses&Itemid=2
Sadly the CV 21/1.8 seems smeared. Would it work better on A7?

Can anyone summarize if A7 or A7R is better on corner smearing? I actually followed all pages in this thread but I am kind of confused.
By the way, I have the CV 21/1.8 and 35/1.2 II.

nope. I'm betting it will be OK at f/11 maybe sooner - for landscape work.

Good question. I think I've seen every sample and comparison, and my conclusion is, without certainty, that the smearing is ~comparable when scaled to the same resolution. The color shift on WA RFs is clearly much worse on the a7r (as is the "effective" vignetting), which may mean, after correction, that the overall a7 image looks better with extreme WA RF lenses. Here's a somewhat apples and oranges comparison from pre-production cameras:
In the end, I changed my order from the a7r to a7, but I still have mixed feelings. I love the no-AA, high MP resolving power of the a7r, but I like the somewhat lighter post processing needs of the a7 with RF lenses. As usual, there are trade-offs... I suspect things will change once again when the next generation of these cameras arrives!
The good news is these are both fantastic cameras that should keep those of us graduating from the NEX line very happy with our FF adventures!

This is funny:
Found a guy with the v3 elmarit, which I've linked to above somewhere in this morass, and I asked what do you think of the 28/2.8 v3 on the A7?
"So my verdict so far: Is much better then I had expected after reading all those "you can't use the A7/A7r with any M-Mount wide angle lenses" opinions in forums everywhere prior the real launch"

Oh yes!
See my post regarding the 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V4 as posted on L-Camera-forum:
