After my last shot from this exact location a few weeks ago, I decided to head back a second time to capture the Larches in full autumn colour with my Dad. It was his first ever hiking/camping experience and he wasn't disappointed with the views we both got during the trip.
No matter what the conditions were over the 3 days, I was determined to capture something special and made the hike up the Nublet every sunrise, sunset, and even mid day when the light looked promising. On the second morning after waiting almost 2 hours past sunrise in thick fog and insane wind, things opened up and I captured this amazing crispy foggy light show. I hope everyone likes it, and I can't wait to print it big! I have more epic light from this spot then I know what to do with, so I'll try and spread out my other shots from here over the winter

Very nice Justin. I like the other version a bit better but this is still stunning.
Thanks Gary. Im not sure which one I like better. The colours are great in my older shot, but these conditions are totally original from this location and I havent seen any similar shots like it before. Plus I prefer my pano comp and the quality of it cause I hauled up my good lens this trip

Sweet capture, the quality of the light was outstanding and you can definitely feel the crispness in the air.

I say crisp, but in reality it was almost unbearable. The winds up here at some points almost blew me over. I came home with a wind burned crusty face even though most of my time was spent hiding in the trees haha.

I am glad that you took your Dad to this place. Just gorgeous shot. Your Dad must be very proud of you!
Thanks! Hopefully he is proud. At the very least he will want a big print of this for memory sake! He actually reached the peak with a friend only 5-10 minutes after this light show happened so at least I have this shot to show him what he barely missed.
Thanks guys! I managed to make it to the front page of 500px again with this, which is pretty great for me!

Nice photo. One little nitpick, though...
I wasn't there.
seriously....
great shot.
My few camping trips never turned out well with my Dad who preferred a hot diner meal over my oatmeal. He said he stop camping after the Army.
