A relic from the Civil War, this hat would have been worn by the Post Surgeon of the Confederate Army, and is found in one of the exhibits at Fort Macon, NC. The initials "MS" denote a member of the medical staff.

Thanks for the feedback on this. Could have also done a cannon ball stuck in a brick wall of the fort. But, I really liked this hat.
