Seems like you got a winner from your trip Matthew. Sucks that you didn't get the rainier shot you wanted, but this one is no slouch either! It's a gorgeous photo!

Thanks Jason. Yes I spent the first 5 days days at Paradise but got done with the hikes I wanted to do and was a bit depressed by the lack of flowers and nice sunsets/sunrises, figured Tipsoo would be great as it didn't require the flowers. Happy it ended up working out! Tried to get a nice Sunrise (the place in the park, not the sky) shot but Sunrise was covered in clouds for 4 days straight. Couldn't see my car 100 feet away.
Nice job of post processing and keeping the look natural. Some of the Mt. Rainier posts I've been seeing on FM have been overcooked or too HDR obvious, but you have struck a good balance.
Perfect shot and processing, Mathew. I know the spot well. Your DR is right on, just the right amount of detail around the trees and lake and fantastic color.

Thank you! Yes it's a beautiful spot, and the upper lake is quite peaceful come sunset when no one is hiking anymore.

Lucky or not you worked it well. the blending is, as far as I can see, flawless. A result like that can make a whole trip.

Thanks very much Dave. I feel quite comfortable with capturing what I want in the field now, I just feel that my processing may be holding me back. Had never touched any processing software before a year ago when I started photography. Glad to see that I seem to be making some progress!
This shot sure did make my trip too, that's for sure.
