A rather funny shot from today: Cannabis sativa - there was an experimental field with that plant, which shall be free from psychotropic substances. Nevertheless a good sample for the picture quality reachable with the Zeiss on the 1Ds. Here a small overview: http://iapf.physik.tu-berlin.de/jbohs/HKO/SHOW/Hanf847V9233kk.jpg
Where can I the Zeiss 21mm cheap? It's around $1500 new at B&H and it's quite a lot to spend for a prime, be it Zeiss glass though
Are there any other good super wide angle (~20mm) prime alternatives? I don't mind manual focus or stop-down metering...

Sigma's 20 f/1.8 is a nice cheap alterantive. Of course it wouldn't look this nice on a 1Ds. I should have never sold mine.
Mine came from KEH for about a grand. These lenses appear 2nd-hand irregularly, but they do appear. Just monitor the usual web sites for a few months. Contax USA runs a sale once or twice a year, with 10% off. You can also buy it new gray-market from the illustrious eBayer "etefore" .
Not to disparage other companies, but there is no cheap alternative: this optic stands alone.
Anyone have a full size sample taken at f11 with the full image sharp from foreground to infinity? (like a landscape shot or an urbanscape for instance)
That lens is next on my list (course, there are lots of other things too that are "next" on my list too...G5 3ghz when it comes out, 20D for next body, 21 Zeiss for next lens, Carboard box for my next home..lol), but I really want to see some full size samples to examine and print.
Thanks to anyone that has files or links to share.

There's no cheap alternative, but the Leica R 19/2.8 is also excellent. (The current, not the vintage 1960s one.) You'd be lucky to find one used for $1500 though.
etefore is great, I bought my Summilux-M 35/1.4 ASPH from him (back when the prices were much lower on Leica gear in HK, now they're too close to USA to be worthwhile).
@Jan: I very much would like to see a shot with that Leica 19 mm on the 1Ds. Do you have one ?
Reason is the absolutely extraordinary type of the Zeiss, which is an extrem retrofocus construction - that is a high contrast to that Leica.
Sure this strange construction is the main reason, why its performance is so good on the 1Ds, because all (most) wideangles on the 1Ds have the problem not to stimulate the margins of the sensor sufficiently. Theoretically the Leica therefore would be no good performer on the 1Ds, as good as may be on a film camera. It would be very nice to be able to improve that theory.
