p.2 #1 · E-M5 better than E-PM2 and E-PL5 in Image Quality
They already look similar.
When I look for a better sensor, lens etc...if I can't squeeze out more difference than what is shown on the previous page than its not worth my time buying something extra, and I should spend more time perfecting my PP skills.

Thanks, I think this only confirms IR findings. Make sure you switch everything to RAW mode.
The E-M5 clearly has something better going on. At base ISO, every edge is better defined and at high ISO, there's low chroma noise while at the same time offering more detail.
E-M5 definitely seems sharper at low ISOs both in IR images and in DPR comparison. At high ISO I think they are very similar in terms of noise and detail. To put that in perspective, you should also add something like E-PL3 to the comparison and then you will see that the clear drop in high ISO performance.
Whether the added sharpness in E-M5 shots is down to a different processing engine or stronger AA filter etc is hard to tell. It looks like you might be able to sharpen the E-PM2 to look lie E-M5 output, it is not clear if the amount of detail captured is different between the two or not.

It looks to me like the e-m5 simply has slightly stronger sharpening (in the dpreview crops). No appreciable difference in resolution that I can see. Both cameras have some ugly artifacts in different places.

Hmmm I don't know, it's apparent to me if you look at the text in some of the globe shots, there's simply detail not being captured that is being recorded by the E-M5.

It depends on where you look. In some places the small text is more artifacted for one of the cameras. Overall the e-m5 may have a slight advantage, to which the higher contrast contributes too. Anyway, I don't think these samples don't provide conclusive evidence about the IQ differences.

I can't complain about the sharpness after having had the E-PM2 for a few days... I only have the new Panasonic kit lens (version II) of the 14-42 for now
