I take a different POV. I don't see the point of owning nice lenses but not using them. While I do travel light, I also travel prepared. My standard travel pack is a Nikon D7100 & D5100 back up, Nikons 17-55mm f2.8 & 80-400mm VR, SB-900 flash, travel tripod. It's a fairly compact set up that maximizes opportunities. If I were to go really light, I'd just take something like a Canon G12. Just taking one fixed lens on an expensive trip makes no sense at all to me.
very nice set, and cool that you were willing to do this all with a 15. a 35 or 50 would no doubt have made your life easier, but these are very nice, very environmental.
