Like many, I sold my 135L when I bought my 70-200 2.8 MKII. And with the addition of a 6D to my kit, with it's great high-ISO abilities, I shouldn't have any need for a 135L...yet I'm constantly considering picking up another one. Especially if my daughter does some indoor sports/dance classes this winter. F/2 speed, decent reach, and great IQ in a package that doesn't draw attention is something I miss.
yeah, i'm not even that hung up on the extra stop between f/2 and f/2.8. just having a lens in this focal length of this quality that isn't a massive white brick that weighs twice what the camera does was more than enough to convince me.
only way i'd ever carry a 70-200 f/2.8 is if i was getting paid to carry it.
Sold both my 135L and 85/1.8 after getting a 1D4. High ISO was good enough to finally be able to use my 70-200 2.8 which is way more flexible at events. Sometimes I miss the 135L for gymnastics but after seeing some 85/1.2 shots I find myself looking at that on the refurb page a lot more then the 135.
I think I'd rather have the 135L over the 85/1.2L II; but if the perspective is right and control is exercised over focusing, I can see how the 85L might be attractive.
My experience is similar to gg, but different. After getting a 1DX, I sold my fast wides (24/1.4L and 35/1.4L), but I'm hanging onto my fast 'longers'.
