Ok, no offense to 1DX owners but if I close my eyes it sounds just like my mom's old sewing machine (circa 1960).

Obviously another person who hasn't read the manual. The 1DX comes complete with in camera stitching, so yes it does sound like a 50 year old Singer (The coffee maker option got left out of final revision )

If I remember correctly it requires a two button push to change FPS with the T90, if the 1DX is the same it might be a dexterity issue, or it could be flashbacks from a war long ago or the shooter's blood sugar could be to low and thus cramping of digits is involved along with balance/sight issues, you know hanging on for dear life feeling while you faint and fall over, or maybe in a former life this photographer was indeed a tailor, but wait we usually switch sexes in previous lives so I guess that would be a

Nah, you're just channeling skibum!
I haven't had any excuse to shoot 14 fps (no focus adjustment after the first shot!?), but if you put in a slow CF and shoot a long burst in raw at 12 fps - that sounds like my mother doing burst stitches on the Necchi.
Regardless of fps, all of the 1D bodies sound more solid to me than any of the 5D series. It makes me wonder if to some extent they engineer for sound quality, the way that auto engineers were said to tweak the design of doors to give a satisfying thunk when they were closed, rather than just to seal well and wear well. Of course the 1D bodies are heavy and solid, which would have some acoustic influence.

The 1D series indeed sound sweet, compared to the 5D and 5Dll sounding like shutting the door on an old Dodge Aspen.

Yeah, but they are not hollow....they are full of stuff.
Try to stick a soundpost into your 5DMkIII, and see if that will improve its sonority.

1D3 was the best, pure machine gun burst.

Agreed...but I am pretty partial since I'm a 1D3 owner. However...the 1DX... WOW! That is pure thoroughbred race ready for sure! I'm in love..
