Are many of you guys getting clients via your church networks? That market would not really be effected.
I remember living out the other side of Sydney some years back and most of the locals were leaving their crystals out in the garden to recharge on a full moon. That type I can imagine worrying about the date.

Do you guys think some people are skipping this year and waiting until 2014 because it's 2013...
Talked with a wedding planner yesterday and she said her 2013 bookings are half of what they are used to be and 2014 is already almost booked.
I don't think people are waiting for 2014 because its 2013 but I do believe they are waiting because the economy still sucks. Despite what the government has you believing and thinking. The economy is actually worse now than it was in the crash of 2009. The worst has yet to come and I think a lot of brides are seeing this and waiting.
With that said, we were down this year but ended up booking a lot of last minute stuff and I am sure we will book more last minute stuff later this year. 2014 actually has more booked right now than we had booked for 2013 before the last minute stuff.
I would agree with Tony. I just don't see why people would do that.
2013 is just as big of a year for me as 2010 thru 2012 all were - 34 weddings. The thing I AM noticing is that people are waiting longer to book/plan, it appears, in talking to other photographers and in my experience. 2013 filled FAST. I'm behind pace for 2014, definitely. AND, I am still getting 2013 inquiries constantly - but 2014 inquiries are few and far between. (so in all, I'm getting as many inquiries as is normal for my business, but they are for THIS year, not next...)
Things are still very bad out there. And I too don't see them improving anytime soon. I think that has more influence than anything.
Not noticing it. So far we're tracking better than last year's. However I wouldn't discount cultural taboos regarding the 13 or 14. This stuff exists. I remembered a huge wedding boom in 2008 particularly in the month of August amongst the chinese community. But YMMV.
Me thinks folks are booking later perhaps due various reasons like economy, priority and perceived over abundance of high quality photographers.

Things don't seem bad for you if you've got 34 weddings this year. Sounds like things are peachy.
