you may be right. It could be that the bill got damaged while very young and being tagged. Alternatively, it could have been brought to the nearby bird hospital (at Ken Thompson park) after its bill was damaged. Ithen got tagged and released.

Yes lots of the big birds here in south west Florida are tagged. The conservationists are very active. However, we still see lots of pelicans with injuries from fishing lines.

Hi All,
I realized lately that since the spoonie is tagged, one might think that the picture was not shot in the wild. I do not shoot pictures of animals in captured or enclosed environments. Although these venues provide fantastic opportunities, it is just not my style.
