I hope you get another chance on the KF, Ron, but I'll be happy just with these.
Mama feeding the baby is really sweet. #8 shows a great angle and the Barred Owl shot is very clean and pleasant
Socrate
A lovely set Ron and I do like your "Somethings set" a lot. I find that when I go out to shoot aiming to get certain shots then often they don't come my way but there is always something out there to shoot.
Maybe a tiny bit of shadow removal for the Card?

I'm really sorry to hear that your conundrum to out to be a bit of a bummer Ron. That's nature, especially for those of us that go out and photograph birds in their natural state. It can get frustrating but then again it's shots like the WP you have here that make it all worth while I would be proud to call this set my own and I'm jealous of the parent feeding the baby shots. These rock Ron
Tim
Thanx Tim. I really appreciate your kind words. I went back and forth on going back to shoot the KF, but finally decided that they deserved to raise their young without me disturbing them.

Oh, I was too early to this party . These are wonderful as well . Love how Mr. Cardinal seems to be trying to get out of the rain, lovely shot.
Birdie
I forgive you Birdie... Thanx for the nice words.

Good luck with the eagle nest.

You done good Ron .
Charlie
Thanx Charlie. I'm glad the nut - er - peanut gallery approves.
3 and all the ones in the second set are my picks from this sweet set Ron. Sometimes we can't get to see the things that we plan. That is one of the things that makes capturing photos of some creatures so special
Wow, what a variety. Great selection of images. Impressive shots of the Downy Woodpecker, a pretty small bird. I like the Northern Cardinal. You managed to get good detail in the deep red. Don't sell the Barred Owl short! That's a very nice shot especially with the foliage showing some fairly harsh side/backlight.
Love those big black eyes of the Barred Owl Ron, the only time I saw one of these was the only time I went on a hike without my lens, go figure
When done correctly I find the American Robins quite attractive, male or female You did this one correctly
Is that an olive eating squirrel? Nice low level shot, it works buddy!
Hmm however you filled in that tree hole with light amazes me, gosh you got 'deeeeeep' in there with detail. These are impressive shots, well handled and I know this isn't easy.
Too bad about the KF Ron....but an excellent series here. Form the bill size and lack of spots on the outer tail feathers suggest this is a Hairy and not a Downy.

Ron your whole set rocks! You did a grand job! BeeBalm

Too bad about the KF Ron...best laid plans and all that. But the woodies more than make up for it I will suggest...great feeding shots. Am looking forward to the eagle pix when and if you get them. Now the owl pix...that is a great one...anything less than 20 branches in front of a barred owl is a winner!
Very nice series and for what its worth...their ain't no conundrum anymore!
Eric
Yes, the conundrum is over - I haven't seen the woodys the last three times I checked the nest, so they must be gone. All that's left now are the eagles, except there is a report of a loon in a local lake...

Fine looking set Ron. The robin is my fave of the overall set. Classic worm hunting pose. Owl looks good too. Cool to see shots with wp mom and babe(s).
Thanx Ken. I don't really know how many babies there were - I've always seen just one at a time.

Splendid set of images Ron. Fantastic job !!
Some great stuff here Ron! Those shots with the baby WP are just terrific and really capture a rare moment many will never have the opportunity to see for themselves, yet, you bring it to us all with these images! Bravo!

Wonderful set Ron,
congratulations to all the families you're watching. And you did the right thing to let the parents be parents first with the KFs
Lil
Thanx Lil. I really wanted some shots of the KF, but I just couldn't disturb them again.

excellent set of images, the owl shot is great, any owl shot is better than no owl shot
Thanx Brian. Yes, I'll take the owl shot.

Ron, this is a great set. Looks like you were set up 6 feet from the feeding site. I, too, like the owl shot.
Al
Thanx Al. I was about 15 ft from the woodys, but I think I could have gotten closer.

Thanx Morris. Yes, nature has a way of reminding us that we are just a tiny part, and she will do as she pleases.

I know you would't leave your camera at home, so why no lens?? I'm not sure what the squirrel had - I didn't see any olive tree anyway. The woodys were in full shade, so I used a flash - close enough that I didn't need the BB. Thanx for the nice comments.

Thanx Tiny. You could be right on the id, but it they were, well, tiny. Everything else indicates "Hairy".

Thanks for sharing,

Thanx Greg. I believe I missed the Downys/Hairys fledging. At any rate, there was no activity at the nest cavity the last two times I went, so I'm hoping they will return next year.
