Pikes Peak is there purely because it holds some interest to me in terms of the racing that takes place there. Hence driving it is a must do

Garden of the Gods is an interesting one though. I've heard that mentioned several times as a good option. I will research that one.

Some specifics i'd appreciate info on:
- Monument Valley tour operator that's worth using, and that isn't stupidly expensive
- Antelope Canyon tour operators
- With the two questions above, is it worth prebooking these tours?
- RMNP locations. Including ideas for if the Trail Ridge road is closed.
- Badlands locations

I was in Antelope Canyon last week, it was ridiculously busy, photo tours from page were all booked some until mid june. your best bet is to drive to the canyon and get a tour from there. best time is 11:00 am until 2:00 pm if you want sun beams in the canyon but be prepared for crowds. upper antelope is $40 for 1 hour tour, $80 for 2 hour photo tour. Lower antelope is cheaper $20 and you can walk in at any time with a photo tour 2 hrs max.
i find upper Antelope more beautiful but just a zoo in there. Tour guide said that they get over 1000 people a day in the canyon!

So you would say its not worth pre booking these tours at all?

I say pre book but if its all booked for the photo tour on the day you want to go, i would still show up at the canyon early that morning to book for 11:00 am, thats what i did. i didnt pre booked because i didnt know what day i was going to be there.
Even if it is very crowded, it is still a beautiful place to visit, and you still can get some great shots. but i think it is good to to know and be prepared for crowds.
I just posted a photo of that day on the landscape forum.

useful info for upper Antelope:
Tour operators open at 7:00 am in Page
Tours start at 8:00 am
$6 fee at entrance of parking
$40 for 1 hour tour, no tripod allowed, but i see a lot of people with tripods!?
$80 for 2 hour photo tour, tripod mandatory
you need a tripod to take photos in there
people throw sand in the air to get the beam of lights in the canyon so be careful with your gear
best photo tour time is 11:00 am

Good luck and enjoy!

Do you happen to have a recommendation on which company to use for the tour?

I am now a week into this. I'm about to start the National Parks section of the route, so hopefully i'll get some appropriate weather! (it's very wet/changeable right now, so not sure i will get that weather i want!). I am in Sioux Falls right now (South Dakota) after driving over from Chicago, and will be heading out to Badlands NP tomorrow. There has been lots of storms (loads of lightning) tonight, which is fun!

You can see what i'm upto via my Instagram feed. Please feel free to take a look! It's only got snapshots in it, but it's still a bit of fun
