It wasn't available for sale when I made the comment.

Another vote for the YN 622's. They're a little clunky on-camera or flash but work quite well. RF-603's are also good if you don't need TTL/HSS.

Buyer beware, as YN 622n's apparently don't support TTL with a D4 or D3s.

Microsync will work with flashes and strobes.

The standard has been and should continue to be the Pocket Wizard line. There plus line is almost trouble free their control the light or Ettl line has a bad rap but through hard work and education and some accessories can be use under normal situations. The important thing is reading the manual understanding what you read and practicing your typical setups prior to using them in a shoot even then do testing of every setup and troubleshoot any problems. Some canon speedlites give off more rf interference than others and knowing which does what allows you to use your best speedlites in the worst situations. Personally my setups I never had a problem that wasn't my fault wrong setting on the Speedlite. Distance I use them at are nor great enough to require the shields. My only complaint is that a compatible unit for the qflash for Ettl or CTL isn't available yet.

Calumet's previous gen radio triggers were rebranded Phottix Stratos. I wonder if their quad series are perhaps the Strato II internals with a different casing and buttons.

The Calumet Quad Plus triggers (http://www.calumetphoto.com/eng/product/calumet_quad_plus_2_4ghz_wireless_trigger_kit_for_nikon_flash_systems/cf00873) are internally identical to the Phottix Stratos II triggers and they are fully compatible with each other. I already had several sets of the Phottix version and like the design of the Calumet model so I bought a set and am fairly pleased. I was hoping the buttons on the Calumet version were easier to push rapidly, but doesn't really seem to be any better when you only need to turn one channel on or off. I LOVE these triggers (in either model) and highly recommend them if you're looking for manual triggers. They have pass-through TTL, so your on-camera flash will work just fine while still being able to trigger remotes. For my event shooting, the ability to instantly access any group with its own button is unmatched with any other trigger out there -- no paging through menus or limited selection of group options. The fact that they are really low priced is even better.

The Calumet brand looks a little sexier and you have the ability to get service, so that gives them a little edge over the Phottix version that you can easily find on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Phottix-15653-Wireless-Trigger-Nikon/dp/B0056MPWZU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1369254870&sr=8-2&keywords=phottix+strato+ii).

Both brands let you get a transmitter/receiver pair or just the receiver by itself.

I'ts kind of obvious we all like and use these different triggers.
for a fact they all serve a good purpose , so much so that I just received a set of Pixel Kings and I like them so far, but I had also ordered the Yongnuo 622n' s that should arrive on the 29th. Oh well I guess I'll have to enjoy both,

My kings died after 4 months. Luckily they came from Amazon since Pixel expects the retailer to handle warranty issues in the US. Amazon gave me a credit which I immediately applied towards an Odin setup.

The best thing about the Kings is that they come with an awesome carrying bag.

Brad,

I bought Calumet Quad Plus Flash Trigger SET for Nikonflashes before they closed.

Do you know if the: Phottix STRATO II MULTI 5-IN-1 TRIGGER SET FOR Nikon (ALL CABLES) will completely work with the Calumet Quad Plus Flash Trigger Set as far as the Transmitter/Receiver is concerned?

Thanks very much.

I use a mix of Nikon flash and monolights. Monolights are great for the group portraits! Anyway, I've been using CyberSyncs since they came out 5(?) years ago and never once have they failed. Not even for my outdoor winter night shots when it was hitting 30 below zero. Very well built, 100% reliable, superb customer service. I've kept an open mind but so far nothing better has come out. For wedding work, my criteria is never the cheapest, but is the most reliable available. CyberSyncs.

For what its worth the Odin receivers fit nice and snug into Lowepro Altus 10 pouches and the Odin triggers snug into Lowepro Rezo 20 pouches.

Both pouches can cost next to nothing on Ebay.
