Thanks Jim, I have trouble too when the lighting is harsh. The day I took this one the light was soft but bright because of a light, hazy clouds. In the past I have used cheese cloth to soften the shadows.

Very nice Norm, I'd love to find some of these around my area...but it seems our common cacti only bloom at night....

Thanks Greg, I'm not sure when these flowers open but they close up before the the sun goes down. These don't have any fragrance so they probably aren't opening at night.

Thanks Roberta, This plant is behind a 5 ft block wall protected from the Javelina that aren't bothered by the sticky thorny bits.
