For those that can't see why PSCS6 is necessary, they probably don't do much landscapes where the "Content Aware Brush" is invaluable for brushing out power lines, lampposts, etc. kind of things that they probably don't even see. A lot of scenic beauty is turned to crap by manmade obstructions. The classic Bixby Bridge along the California coast is a good example.

You are certainly right! And I think a good strategy is to get the current PS CS6 and LR 5 as soon as it becomes available. We will be good for a long, long time and have no need to bother Adobe or it's cloud any more.
I need to upgrade because I switched from PC to Mac and the versions are system specific. If I didn't need to do this I'd be happy to stay with CS5. I'm hoping they still offer a "cross-platform" upgrade option.
Photoline even has a LAB curve tool, and layers of course. It is the closest PS clone I am aware off. Cheap for €59.

Part of the reason I switched over to PS vs. Corel Paint Shop Pro or other lesser $$$ tools (years ago) was the LAB space that they didn't offer. But, it's kind a funny for me to hear mshi mention plugins ... that word isn't really even part of my PS vocabulary. When I want automation ... LR is the ticket for me. When I want refined control (particularly with layers and color correction) ... about any version of PS will give me the tools needed.
And, with the advent of how far LR has come along ... more and more people passionately and ardently claiming there is almost no need for PS anyway ... so why so much grumbling @ PS updates holding us hostage to a cloud subscription?...Show more →
