Holy crap on a cracker... $79.99 for the 40 2.8, out of stock.

So what's the trick to catching these things the minute they actually go on sale, is this something that's updated every Sunday evening or something?

Canonpricewatch.com and a smartphone.

I missed the 600EX flash so I'll add this canon price watch.

Never seen a great white listed there. Too bad - would like to upgrade my 500 F4.

Even that isn't enough sometimes. I got an alert on Sunday and like 15 minutes later it was gone before I could check out .

part of the problem are the guys who buy in bulk just to resell them. On my local CL, there's a guy selling 10+ 40 pancakes, for $120 and listed them all as refurbs.

I grabbed a 24-70 v1 last October and an MP-E 65 last week with the help of canonpricewatch.com. I've had the chance to buy a variety of other lenses as well but didn't (100-400, 70-200 2.8, 85L, 100L, 135L). I think you just need to check very often and also have a bit of luck.

Sucks regarding the 40. It would've been nice to pick up one for cheap.
