Be careful on that. Looking back on the subject here, there was one post that said if you don't send it in within a certain period of time, they add the discount back on to your credit card. Worth checking out before trying. Sounded like the guy knew of this happening.
I bet this program is a clever way to be able to sell at prices competitive with their retailers. Normally, a manufacturer gives guarantees they won't undercut their retailers so as to keep them happy. This way, it's not a straight up retail or refurb sale; it's a loyalty sale, whatever that means of course. And I agree, these cameras end up in the landfill, or whatever is politically correct these days.

You don't actually have to send them anything. If you do send them something, you're sending it to the scrap heap (just look up the address). Buy a cheap camera, tell them you'll send it, give it to some kid.

Looks and performs as new! Not a mark or finger print.
Had less than 100 exposures on it.
Focuses great in very dark conditions. (so dark that i could not manually focus)
Also came with the decent and brand new 200DG camera bag.
This is overall a fantastic deal, for under $2400+tax and overnight shipping was only $30 or so. Otherwise ground shipping would have been free.
Good job Canon!
Not familiar with the canon locality program. Can you give me some details
p.2 #5 · 5D III just arrived from Canon Loyalty program
Just google Canon Loyalty Program and you can find the details. Basically, you can get a body and 1 lens for 20% off the refurb price if you call their toll free number and give them a serial number of an older camera that you are planning to turn in to them. You get a 90 day warranty just like any other refurb. The list of lenses is limited but does have some gems like the 70-200 Mk 2 but is of course limited to the ones they have in stock, i.e. no rain checks, you've got to order the lens when you get the body. Of course, you can get just the body if you wish. You can't get just a lens, only with the body.

Do you know what lenses are in the
CLP program?
Last time I used it several months ago they said any available refurb lens and body was eligible...
That said, I have never seen big whites on there (bigger than 400 5.6L which is there now) and 1-series bodies are also hardly ever seen although the 1DX is there now albeit out of stock.
Basically, you trade any junk Canon body or P&S and you can get ONE EACH body, lens, TC, and strobe and take 20% off the total. You don't have to get all that, but you must get at least a body to get the discount. Its worth getting it all. The discounts are substantial enough that you can eBay what you don't need and make money.
Last time I got a 5D2, 70-300 4-5.6L, 2XIII, and 580. All I wanted was the body and lens. The 2xIII and 580 helped pay for them.

Thanks for info. I guess I am getting lazy, I should have googled myself

pKai, just fyi... not every lens available as a refurb in the Canon store is eligible for the Loyalty program. Look in the POTN link I posted two posts above for the list of refurb lenses that are included in the loyalty program. For example, the 100-400 and the 70-300L can be purchased as refurbs, but neither is available for the 20% loyalty program bundle with a body.

As stated above, I got a 70-300L late last year at a 20% discount. Maybe the rules change periodically?

I was told by the Canon rep that 1DX was not one of the models available in the Loyalty Program. I asked specifically to purchase that one, and he said it was "not yet" part of the program.

I just tried to place a loyalty order for a 5D Mark III and was told the discount is now 15%. The girl tried to tell me that the discount does change periodically which sounded like BS. With tax (lovely NY state) the total would have been $2587.52. Not worth it for me and I don't really need it. I guess I'll wait...

$2587.52 vs. $3500 for a new one sounds pretty good to me! You are saving $1000.
People are paying quite a but more that that on Craigslist for used ones.

It has been 15% for the 5D3 for quite some time now. I think it changed several months back.
I just received mine with a 178 shutter actuation count, it is a great camera!

Purchased a 5D3 through the CLP last month. 5 shutter actuations... looked untouched. I used Magic Lantern to read the shutter count. Shot a wedding with it... works perfectly!
The 5D3 CLP discount has been 15% since May... before that it was 20%.
