if i werent a photographer i think i'd be attracted to my work. with that said, i'm not sure i'd hire myself, but i'd definitely look for someone who specializes in documentary, thoughtful photography.
If I was from my area, was a groom helping look for a photographer, and I had it in the budget (which for our own wedding, we had a tiny budget), then yes...i would hire us. Granted, there are a few other people that I would hire as well, so I would have to make the decision which person to go with. But, I would definitely be in the top 3 or 4 of people I would consider.

I see two things here...
The poll asks if we'd hire ourselves. I think most of us SHOULD say yes.
However, the OP kind of asks a different question question in the initial post - where I see your point.
If I were shopping, I would definitely hire someone that shoots the same style, both in processing and shooting, as myself. I think that was Tony's point; and I agree with it.
Just because [insert whatever famous photographer you "wish"] is available and I can afford him because they're considered among the world's best; it doesn't mean I want that for my own wedding.
i would prob hire myself....i'm priced a little less than what we paid for our wedding photographer, and i feel like at this point, i'm putting out better, more creative stuff than he is/was......Also, if i hired myself, i would be booking a sick location, with tons of character, to make my job that much easier....
Such a thoughtful question...would I hire myself. Yes, I think I would. Doesn't mean though that of all the photographers out there, that I consider myself the best one, no, but if I'm understanding the question right, Yes, I would hire myself.
First thought is likely YES if I can afford me. I think I'm quite affordable. Yes. Yes I will. And I come with a pretty wife as 2nd shooter too. Bonus.
