I got a version with no chip and later on saw the deal and got the one with chip. My copy of the non-chip is lens is sharper than the chip lens, noticeably. So I returned the chip lens.
Could have been some QC problems though right?
Either way I'll find out myself tomorrow when it arrives!
Received it early today and only got to take a few shots with it.
Nothing special but I'm in love!
My copy seems to be tack sharp and infinity focus seems to be infinity. Can't wait to take it out this weekend, downtown in the city.
Best $300 I've ever spent! I will say I was surprised how small it was. I thought it'd look menacing but it's small. The front bulb is scary but whatever. I wish the cap wasn't so cheap feeling though.
Exchanged my chipped lens with a new copy and compared with my non chipped version. The non chipped version is still sharper at 100%. Don't get me wrong, the chipped version is still incredibly sharp, sharper than my 16-35 at 16mm, but my non chipped version is sharper. Maybe I got an extremely good copy of non chipped version. Will be keeping the non chipped version even though the price was the same with promotion.
This one is definitely on my shopping list! Might have to wait until next month though with a D800 and a Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 S already on the way.......
Does the rear element move in and out like a 16-35mm f/4 or a sigma 35mm (art) f/1.4? On my recent trip to Mammoth Lakes the focus ring became rather stiff and I'm starting to freak out.
you find the link to the zip file at the bottom. I've used it and so far it is the plugin I like the best. At first I thought it was an official file by Samyang, but the hosting site is some sort of gallery page showing only Samyang photos.
Technically speaking, there's no straight horizon on a round planet
I don't know of any profiles that can fix that, but the adaptive wide angle filter in CS6 lets you straighten just about any bent line with a little mouse clicking
If you are asking what we are using to correct lens distortion, I use the plugin I linked to 4 posts above yours. There are others linked in this thread, and there is PTLens, which works really well, but isn't free.
