I haven't read any comments, but my 24-120 sits on the D800. It's got excellent sharpness at all apertures. Distortion is pretty rough at widest FL and vignetting is very apparent. Both can be fixed, of course. The lens is very much worth the rebate price.
I bought one used on the forum to put on my Df and ended up selling it. Quality was great for a zoom, but the Df just handles better with primes.
Well, one long vacation in Hawaii later and the realization that I could have used a single camera and lens for the entire trip instead of two cameras (Df and Leica X Vario) and four lenses (X Vario's 18-46, 105/2.5, 24/2.8 and 58/1.4) made me hunt down another 24-120/4 VR. It should arrive tomorrow or Monday.
Old thread revived. I have owned 3 of the 24-120, buy-sell then buy again. I sold one to Creative Edge Michael, others I don't recall. I've sold the last ever, now I keep the lens on a body full time, would trade a 28-300 for another if I can strike that deal. Real nice lens, useful focal range.
