Thank you very much I did get the black as more for the stealth of not being noticed. I must admit the the form factor is very conducive to just taking the X100F for a walk Kudos to Fuji as it is a very well thought out camera. I am also loving the XT2 with XF 18 and 27 lenses. Having my FF D750 and D810 made me rethink my Fuji system as truly a light to go and have fun system. There is a place for both
Another quick observation as I originally saw in the XPro2 was that using the hybrid viewing slowed down the AF marginally. Reverting to just EVF the AF is back to normal. The X100F is the same.
Charles, I see a lot of similarities in our choices of gear - I have held onto my D3s/D700 and Nikon glass for fast paced action because my X-T1 always seems to be a step behind. For travel and social gatherings, the X-T1 with XF18 is just about perfect, but I have been eyeing the X100F as an even smaller package. What are your impressions on the X100F vs the X-T2 and D750? Can the AF keep up, and do you feel the X100F is somewhat redundant when you already have the X-T2?

Hi Chris. I love FF and now in particular D810/D750 combo with the newer lenses like the 105/1.4G and 70-200 f2.8 FL. There is the new 28/1.4 G that is about to arrive. With used Nikon bodies and lenses the entry is acceptable. Maybe in another 12 months Sony's pricing levels may rationalize also.
I have two XT2 and they are superb. Combined with the XF 18 and 27 they make for an awesome combination for a light to go setup. When Fuji releases the newer version of the XF 18/2, this may change the landscape again. My understanding the XT2 is a very substantial step from the XT1 in terms of AF speed and ultimately IQ. The IQ from the 24MP Xtrans sensor seems to be improving now with the latest updates from Lr CC/PS. I think Adobe is quietly improving the algorithms.
The X100F fits wonderfully as the camera you take with you when would not normally. This is really what photography is all about It has the same AF speed as the XPro 2, same IQ and is a fun camera.
The XT2 is more sophisticated and marginally faster in AF than the XPro 2 and X100F. The difference is not noticeable for normal shots. For fun to go shots, the X100F fits in your pocket where the XT2 and XF 18 or 27 does not.
As I mentioned before I was at dinner with my wife, I had my D750 and 58G, nice light and small setup. In the end I took most of my shots casually with my Samsung S8 Plus as it has a 27mm eff FL and very unobtrusive. This is where the X100F and the XT2 with the XF 18 would shine.

X100F. Processed in Capture One Pro since I am now trying to get back to using it more.
Edit: maybe to much sharpening?
Hi Joakim. I don't feel your images are over sharpened. It is always hard to find the exact point where sharpening is best and it is a very personal choice. I would first try shots that wish to extract the max details with IXT. I feel this now gives the best results as you now a lot of control. For portraits and streets I prefer just Lr CC/PS with the latest updates.

I did the same. First bought an XT-2 with 3 lenses, used it for one trip and sold it when I returned. Previously owned an X100S which I should have kept. Now have the X100F and I'm very pleased with the camera and image quality. Excellent for travel.
How does the F compare to the S? I have the S which I am satisfied with but if there is an IQ upgrade I would consider it.

I think that 24 mp is the sweet spot for the X100 in terms of image quality. Images look great on the monitor and have enough resolution to retain fine detail in prints. The X100S at 16 mp is also a fine camera and if you are satisfied with the image quality then no need to upgrade if the slightly higher resolution of the X100F is not needed.
I gotta say, the images from the X100F seem to have a bit more punch than what I see from my and other's X100S. Same so-so lens as the S, but the F seems to be able to extract something more.
Today I received my Fuji EF-X20 flash unit. This is small and excellent in every respect. The simplicity just makes it work on the X100F. This is excellent for outdoor work doing portraits where you can use high shutter speeds with no fear In effect it gives the 4x the effective capacity of the flash with the leaf shutter.
My flash for the D810/D750 is the SB 910 with soft box and this surprisingly this works on the X100F with no fuss.
All you have to do is set the X100F in commander mode or apparently TTL, and then set the Nikon SB 910 set to REMOTE, and then under menu, wireless and set to SU-4. Done. Here is a YouTube for those interested using the X100T.
Another excellent resource for using flash with the X100 series
These shot are also cross posted in the X image thread.
I used the Nikon SB 910 with soft box for a few shots with about 1/64 power. This worked well in manual mode. For some indoor shots I used the on board X100F flash with -2 EV with manual exposure. I tend to slightly underexpose the background.
The more time time I spend with the X100F, the more I am appreciating what an great camera it is. I now have a fight with my wife Marisa as who owns the X100F

As I have mentioned I have a Nikon SB 910 flash very handy in a soft box. I am getting the RoboShoot MX-20 so I can use the full TTL flash mode wireless mode on both the XT2 and X100F. They are not cheap but there are no real other options without going full manual mode.
Charles - very interested in these comments you made a few posts back:

I do a lot of theatre photography. D810 & D600. And I have the X100s, which I love for all the reasons you note with your X100f (Af on the X100s is not so hot, though Ok). I am interested in the XPro-2 or XT-2. I could probably live with the greater DOF due to the crop sensor.
But, the Nikons are so quick with focus acquisition in difficult light (spot metering on forehead or cheeks, 6400 ISO, f2.8 or 4, 1/160 sec). And the speed of focus is vital for me.
Do you think the XT-2 can cut the mustard yet? It seems to be the fastest of your Fuji kit. I see what you say about no one system being suitable for all things. Sounds very wise. Should I just settle down and work with the Nikons in tricky theatre conditions?
forgive me if I've asked this before - and - absolutely beautiful work with your red-headed lass on the X100f!
- I will try what you say about how to use the SB910 with the X100s
-and one more thing - try the TCL converter with your X100f - I have one and the image quality is great

Thank you very much Seth You sparked my interest now and I have to try the TCL converters
The XT2 is a superb camera. The AF is fast, very accurate and I love the Fuji ergonomics. That said I have D810 and D750 as my FF system and the dynamic AF is still in another league compared to the XT2 and also compared to the Sony A7rII. The other aspect is the Nikon creative lighting system is truly excellent and I would imagine this would be very important for your theatre shots.
I feel for theatre work the D810/D600 as a system are still the best work horses. This is no way takes away from the XT2 or the X100F.
Grabbed a X100F over the weekend. I had owned the original and decided it was time to compliment my FF gear with another X100 series cam. So far I'm loving it but also getting used to it all over again. Took it out to the boardwalk last night with family and got a good feel for it. This will primarily be my 'fun' camera for family stuff and messing around but I will definitely take it with me for wedding work. Looking to eventually pick up the TCL and possibly the wide converter as well. Bringing along a couple small speedlights and a trigger will make for quite the small and capable kit.
