It's not that it's such a great picture, but I had on a Tux too, so the 5DII/24-105 was a no-go. X100T and an EF-20 flash- because last year I learned that the in-camera flash is about useless because of red eye. I took a piece of paper and a rubber band and made a improvised flash bouncer. The lights behind and the flash are vastly different color temps, but I'm not going to screw around with gels. There were also pros there taking pics- High end Canon and Nikon gear with flashed is umbrellas. We got some of their too, but I really can't tell the difference between theirs and mine. Granted, it was group after group bang-bang, but the little X100T with small flash and some stuff from the front desk, it all came together.
Spend whole afternoon reading this thread. Thank you all for your inspiration.
As I wanted a 23mm, and with the 100f around the corner, I decided to buy the 100t instead of the 23/2 for my xp1. Looking forward to participate to this thread as soon as it arrives...

High ISO is better. With auto ISO now going up to 6400, I can pretty much forget about it. The only thing that bothers me is that you still can't use exposure compensation when shooting a manual shutterspeed and manual aperture while in auto-iso. Most often I'll set my shutter to 1/250 say, and my aperture to 5.6-8 and fire away. Can't bump up the exposure when doing that. Thankfully the files have a ton of room to be pushed around in post if need be.
For some reason, I thought the X100S had the ability to use Auto ISO and exposure compensation in manual mode. Was that added in a later firmware, or does this not work on the X100S? Not having this would drive me nuts - IMHO it's one my main complaints about the RX100 (classic) and the NEX series.
I've decided to get an X100S, flirting with the idea of it being the only camera that I bring on a holiday to Mexico... Really hoping I like it! It's the first digital camera body I've bought since getting the A7 in Dec 2014.
EDIT: Still curious about this, but it sounds like the X100S can't do this. Bah, it'll be like using a NEX again! But I'll live... decided to get one anyway.
Here's my first contribution with my new-to-me X100S, a pano stitch from 3 horizontal images.
Getting used to this camera has been frustrating. Still, I'm slowly getting there. I'm on the fence about whether I'll keep this as my small and light camera or whether I'll have to sell it. The biggest disappointments are the quality of the EVF and the focus ring.
- The worst MF experience I've had, and that's coming from someone who has used Contax G lenses on crappy Fotasy MF adapters. Focus ring's build quality/feel is below the ultra cheap NEX 16mm pancake. So easy to bump.
- I was expecting EVF quality similar to my Sony A7 and NEX-5R's FDA-EV1S, since they share the same 2.36 Mdot OLED screen. Nope. The color and contrast are off in a way that the LCD isn't, especially in low light. No way to adjust that as far as I can tell. Not a reliable way to judge exposure like it is on my Sonys, which means I'll need to clutter it up with the histogram.
AF is a mixed bag. Sometimes, it's certain and fast, sometimes even in low light (1/40s, ISO 6400, f/2). Sometimes it hunts for no apparent reason. Sometimes AF on an a contrasty distant scene will just fail, or it'll miss focus just enough that it looks crappy. Sometimes I can't tell what lead to softness - bad focus, lens performance, JPEG engine, or the sensor - until running it through IXT to see what detail might be hidden in the file.
The most ironic thing is that it's the X100S rather than my A7 that feels like it's in my way rather than invisible, feeling more like a computer than a camera. I'm hoping that'll get better with time.
Just a nice little waterfall from a hike this past weekend. Had a backpack full of gear (X-T2 + buncha lenses) on my back, but took this with the X100T instead...
Carrying the X100S around a lot... Still fighting with it, but getting closer to the kind of results I want. Stitch of 4 or 5 frames - equivalent to a 24mm on a 36 MP FF.
Cell phone edit (Snapseed) of a shot I took at Yosemite this past weekend. It was frickin' cold! About 11PM, if I remember correctly, in a flooded meadow. The moon was behind me, over my right shoulder, giving some great illumination on half dome. My first trip to Yosemite, it was quite amazing! I can't wait to actually have a chance to sit down and pull the full res files off and sit down to edit the raw's. I'll surely post a few more here when that happens.
