Do you have the x70 in for review then Jordan? Would be interested to hear your thoughts, I sold my x100 a while ago and the x70 is tempting me back to the Fuji world

Yup. So far, it's a very capable camera. I certainly miss a viewfinder on it, though. The touchscreen works nice, and the image quality is the same as all X-Trans II cameras. AF is a bit slower than I'd hoped, but not bad in decent light. I can fit it in my front jeans pocket easily, though if you wear tight jeans, it would be a tough fit.

I find, coming from Olympus, that Fuji X cameras are slow for street photography. Of course, one can strongly argue that these cameras are "made" for street photography in that, they are very conspicuous, quiet and with small primes you can disappear in the crowds. And their retro looks not raising attentions. More so with the X100/x series.

However I am more of a "grab the moment" guy and Fuji autofocus is plain unreliable for me. You just can't trust it to grab your subject at that peak moment, giving you the shot of the day. However you set the AF

Yep the x100 series is like that, Really wanted to like this little camera for reasons you already stated but it frequently focus on background and generally unable to focus blew it for me. Sure you can zone focus, but an A7 with a manual lens would do it better.

I think the best solution for doing street with fuji is the XT series paired with 27 mm. Still sometimes hesitate focus but much more keepers than x100 series.

I've been thinking about getting an original X100 to play with... Sensor IQ seems good, lens IQ seems good enough. I think I could live with the slow AF, but what gives me pause is the manual focus. In the original reviews of the X100, the biggest complaint seems to be about the manual focus. It isn't clear to me if this was fixed with the 2.x firmware updates. I do see that focus peaking was added, but I wouldn't be interested in using focus peaking unless it's the only way to get reliable MF on the X100.

Even without decent MF, I might still give it a whirl and use the X100 like the Contax G1 (AF to a spot 1-3 meters away depending on what I'm doing and stop down as needed). Not perfect, but workable.

What's the verdict? Does the X100 with the latest firmware have usable manual focus? Are there any other roadblocks to using the X100 in 2016?

Went to the local amusement park at over 90F, ugh. Playing around with motion shots at slower SS. I was having issues with over exposure and I belatedly turned on the NF filter. I usually shoot wide open and are begging for light. I pulled these about a stop and turned down the highlights a bit. Any more pulling on these jpgs in LR5 and the colors go all wonky.

Shot jpg instead of raw. That little X100T bangs thru the shots. It's hard to tell focus with these being so swirly and small aps.

This X100T is really becoming my go-to camera. Even when I'm in the house and taking pics when I would have use my 5DII/24-105. Yep, it lacks the zoom, but the low light performance becomes almost a draw when you compare F2 to F4.
