Has anyone on here been to Cambodia or a similar place, Asia? that used just something like the X100. Im going to Cambodia later this year and as much as I love my 5DIII and lenses I dont think Im up for carrying it around in the heat. I have my X100 and a little X10 as a backup (the X100 had a complete lens change and check up in 2013 and has not had heavy use since then so Im not expecting troubles with it). Im just wondering if these cameras are going to be enough, I know there are some nice landscapes but Im assuming it will be more about the temples and the people and street life than landscapes. I feel as if I use the DSLR and primes as a crutch at times and would like to be brave and go light, just not sure if I will be missing much by leaving the 5DIII home. PS I cant afford to upgrade my Fujis, If i could Id get an Fuji interchangeable lens camera
Its either that or I relent and take 5DIII and the lightest set up I can

Bit late to reply, but I see you are going later in the year.
I do long treks (900km odd) and leave the D810 and D600 behind. The X100s (plus TCL) is superb. The 35mm Fov and the 50mm with TCL (which I use rarely - mainly portraits) cover a multitude of situations. I've only taken the TCL on one of four such treks and didn't really need it.
The fuji is quick enough, and the form factor means you can have it ready without anyone giving a damn. If you want evidence, PM me.
I've not used the X100 - read a lot about it - perhaps it's AF is a bit slower, but it works - and the principle of zooming with your feet works the same. It's liberating to do that - truly.
all the best
