when the D800 came along, I sold my D700. With these refurb prices, I`m hoping used D700 prices drop below 1K with the battery pack. I really liked that camera but you know lust thing ...
I don't think the D700 will dip below $1K anytime soon. I think they actually went up a little, especially with a lot of the D600 probably returns for the dust issue..
I knew that Canon would release one as soon as I made the switch to Nikon.
Got my D800 refurb from Cameta about 10 days ago. I think they're out of stock now, but no complaints. I haven't noticed anything up with the left AF but haven't shot anything too intensive with it.
My D800 refurb came from Cameta just before the holidays. So far I haven't found anything wrong with it. Well, it did come with a whole whopping 28 clicks on it. My first shot was number 29.

Where did you buy those from? Bad luck, I guess.
Got mine from Adorama - $2300. Looks brand new, works fine. 104 shots fired when it came.
Adorama. I work in the city, so to me it's a 10 minute trip to 6th and 18th. Speaking of bad luck: 3 D7000s, 3 Sigma 35 1.4s and 3 D800s for the last two months. I'm done with Nikon and Sigma - going back to 5D MKII and L glass.
Seriously I think there may be more to your problem than just bad copies of cameras/lenses.
Do you take a few photos go home and analyze every single pixel too?

OMG! How did you know

Yup. But you get other fun stuff like oil and dust.
Maybe we should have nicknames like ol' Grease Shutter D600 and Left Eye Blind D800.
How about "Grease Gun" for the D600? Maybe we could try "Cyclops" for the D800?
Hey Webisweb, try that trip to Adorama tonight. If you have the wind at your back it's a 1 minute trip. Against the wind? You might consider getting a room!
Seriously, I hope the storm turns out to be mostly hype for you. Right now I feel for anyone having to stare this storm in the eye.
