Well nikon finally did what canon had for a while an f4 70-200. I've been contemplating a 70-200 or a tele prime. Still mulling it over. I did see this lens at Dodds my local store and its small lol
I recently rented a Nikon 70-200 f/4 and compared to my 80-200 f/2.8 AFS. I have some comparison shots in this reply and the next one. This is a purely non-scientific test. I shot using a D7000, ISO 400, jpeg, and the images are SOOC. I was very impressed and I am now trying to decide whether to sell my 80-200 and buy this lens. Other than losing one stop the only "downside" (and pure vanity) is that the 70-200 f/4 doesn't have the same "wow" factor when other people look at it. I am a volunteer photographer for my community photographer and, I must admit, that I do like to create the appearance that my gear is as good as any pro photographer who might be there. Stupid reason, I know, but that's just me.

Well, maybe in twenty years or so, when Nikon gets around to releasing a version "iii" of this lens it will be weather-sealed... but in the mean time, the current version is not.
