It seems unlikely to me; they want to sell new Speedlites, not shoot themselves in the foot by selling gear that delays upgrading by customers.

For a lot less money than the PW ControlTL radios, you can get the new Yongnuo YN-622C system that allows mixing ETTL and Manual flash units. I'm just getting the hang of mine, but so far I have no complaints, and the price is right.

Yongnuo also has a 622N, although it doesn't support TTL on D4's or D800's.

Well I took the plunge an bought a CL-180 combo kit. Talked to Edward Tang and I'm still trying to understand how you set it up if you bought multiple copies, had one trigger, and then wanted to adjust the output power on multiple slaves but Edward thought it could be done so I will give it a try.

Understand now how to set power level on multiple slaves using only on Transmitter. Now I just need the flashes and receivers to try it.

It's rather simple, isn't it? It's same as with manufacturer's flashes, you adjust power of the "group" (there can be up to 16 groups, you choose which group trigger is talking to by rotating group selector switch on trigger) and then all groups on same channel get triggered when you take the shot.
