Man, my 5d3 1600 shots were way nosier than his, I wonder why?

Same here! Either he has a super camera or both my 5D3 and 1DX are underperforming!

NR does not apply to raw. is he shooting jpg? Or does he refer to long exposure nr? My shots used the long exposure nr to reduce amp glow.

Long exposure noise reduction applies to RAW data as well as in-camera JPEGs.

The question is what he meant by shutting off NR? What I really want to know is if he shot raw and had long exposure shut off? That should make his worse than mine not better.

It is also strange if he shot jpg without nr and got such clean images. What is he doing that stanj and I are not doing?

I posed this question about NR strategies over at post processing where I think the subject belongs.
