p.6 #1 · D4 users, is it lacking sharpness compared to 1dx? Less detail & slower AF?
All my tests were done with center focus point, on tripod, good light, fast shutter speed, good target. I've been shooting for many years and can assure you it is NOT a user error.
I hope to have some free time tomorrow to do some quick tests mind you I only have a basic target here but should be good to demonstrate the issue.

Molson care to elaborate?
This pretty much says it all...

I find the quality of Nikon lenses to be very bad - frankly I think they just suck... I have 24-70, 70-200, 85 1.4 and 50 1.4 all of which require fine tune adjustments. Problem is that the required adjustment varies based on aperture, focal length and even subject distance all of which really piss me off and seriously consider switching the system. The lenses and cameras have been off for adjustment few times right now but Nikon still has not been able to resolve the issue. What is the point of spending 20k+ in equipment when it doesn't perform they way it should?...Show more →

I don't always agree with molson but I do on this one haha. Those generalized comments are ridiculous, and do nothing for your credibility.
You know the odds are stacked against you when we both agree you're wrong...

The only thing that is ridiculous here is the fact that none of you have seen the photos showing the issue and yet you are still jumping to conclusions. I was doing couple of tests yesterday with the Nikon technician using their target and we were able to replicate the issue. The problem is that in his opinion "some" focus slide is normal, the part in question is how much is 'some' as in some cases I've seen it go over 30cm which to me is unacceptable.

I'm sure if the Nikon D4 sucked compared to the 1DX, a lot of pros would've went to Canon for it.
Here's the D4 at 10k ISO. Tell me it's not sharp? I can make out her eyelashes. The downsizing doesn't do it justice. ZZZ.
When people post and say one thing is better than another, yet don't have photos of their own to show what they mean... or any linked website or portfolio in their profile... *cough* Photorph

a D4 at 20K news shot for NPS (Nat Park Svc) on Ellis Island, NY
and yes its shot at f8 so it shows the basement of the building that where we were standing had water to just short of the ceiling during the storm surge of Hurricane Sandy

I have played and shot with a D4s while in Japan and got to keep the raw files - what a great camera. I also got to play and shoot with a 1Dx but the sales person was now wary I was saving the files on my memory card, so no sample raws for me. Either way, both are great cameras. As for raw, the D4s files are no doubt awesome at high iso. As for the ergonomics, the 1Dx is more like a brick but I know it will produce awesome files...

Nobody is taking you seriously because you have made comments like the one below, which everyone else knows isn't the case. You are making ridiculous blanket statements based on a single user experience on a forum full of people with the opposite experiences. You can show us all the photos you want, but saying things like this destroys your credibility and suggests you haven't a clue what you're doing:

@CanadaMark I wrote this after a long day where the back/front focus issue was causing me a lot of problems. I've been a bit too frustrated with the situation so maybe my statement has been a bit too harsh.
I have borrowed couple of lenses from a friend of my and his were much more consistent in auto-focus accuracy, so it is probably my bad luck that I ended up with ones that are not what I am expecting them to be . My post was to see how many other people are experiencing what I have been when shooting wide open but I guess there is no point of going any further into this.
