Anyone else have a bad experience with RRS? Their website is crap - double charged my credit card. Escalated to RRS and they seem ignorant to the whole matter.

RRS has always given me great service, and I am satisfied with their products. I've never had a problem that wasn't solved with a simple phone call to RRS.
Never had a problem with RRS - and I've bought a lot from them. Never had a double billing on my card, and have also had great service from their people both by email and twisted pair.

are you in Somerset, NJ?
and actually I find their site much better then it used to be and full of useful info. I find things easily. I mostly do business over the phone but have done a few transactions over their website w/o issue.
in what way ignorant? they are easy to deal with and resolve issues quickly.

Sometimes bad and sometimes good. It's basically a mom and pop shop with some overenthusastic engineers. However, they are a legitimate company so a phone call to a person there should sort things out.
Their products are solidly built, but I've had several failures with the types that have moving parts.
If they double charge your credit card. Then I'm sure a phone call will make it right again.
RRS is honest and have good products. But the service is less good if you live abroad than it was a few years ago. Before they sent their catalog to everyone that like to have it. Today they will not send it outside the USA even if you are a costumer that they know have bought equipment for thousends of dollars from them. IMO that's a bit cheap and not so good service.
The website has some very good info. But it's not so well made or nice
Since the 5DIII plate and being out shipping once each way (paid shipping once for the original, they paid for return and they paid for shipping the second version and I paid to return the second version) for a product that, in my opinion, did not meet their prior standards, I have a wait and see attitude about them. Waiting to see what their standards are these days.
But, I would expect a phone call will clear up your double charge problem.

EBH
a description of the failures would probably be informative to the group. and as you are a photographer with multiple cameras pictures are always welcome.
I like to refer to them as a cottage industry as there "home" has grown just a little. I do like "enthusiastic" engineers, I work with a few of them.
I have had problems with their credit card system. For whatever reason, they always get flagged as suspicious by my mastercard. They are always very helpful though and the sale get's put through.
I own a few of their products and the one time I had an issue (a QR clamp simply "froze"), I was offered a new one at a discounted price. I did nothing to damage the product and I felt it should have been replaced under warranty as it was defective. Rather than take a total loss, I paid the discounted price for the replacement. Since then I have used Kirk exclusively as their customer service has been exceptional.
