Hmmm, looks like some nice updates, but I don't know if they're worth taking the loss that will inevitably be taken in the used market for your existing X100 camera to sell... These are just my .02, but I've owned the NEX-7, and the higher res EVF very similar to what's in the X-E1 and the new X100s is nice, but not groundbreakingly different in everyday use. In fact, in my X-Pro1 I really don't notice too much difference at all, and I use it almost 100% of the time with MF lenses.
The other thing I'll mention is that the image quality from 12MP up to 16MP may or may not be better with the X-Trans sensor, as it shows higher detail, but almost always packing more MP into the same size sensor leads to overall lesser quality pixel per pixel performance... Now, I love my Fuji cameras (X-Pro1 & X100) as I started with the X100 LE version, but if you want insane detail go with the 24MP NEX-7, but notice the far higher noise element in the shots.
When I started using the X-Trans sensor, I noticed it pulled some good detail, but not nearly as good as the Sony did... I guess what I'm saying is, if you already own the X100, don't drop everything and lose out selling it too cheap, then spend a ton getting the updated version if the updates aren't super necessary for your particular needs...
I spent a ton of cash trading and chasing little updates here and there across systems, but now decided once I got BETTER than the camera, I'd update then... The X100 is still a gem of a camera, so don't toss them overboard just yet!

It is the whole sensor area who counts,
more pixels are never worse if it's the same technology we're talking about And it is a Sony sensor inside, just as it is in old x100 but with Fuji topping , CFA
My X100 still works fine for me. I'm saving my pennies for the Fujinon XF 14/2.8 R and XF 56/1.4 R for my X-Pro1. After that, I might get an X-Pro 2, X-E2, or X100s.

I almost picked up a used X100 but decided to hold out.
My current plan is to purchase the:
1. X100s
save more pennies
2. 56mm 1.4
save more pennies
3. Updated x-pro camera with the AF improvements (hopefully this will be a reality).
My assumption would be that it will be at least another year or so before we see and updated X-Pro 1 body. I'm ok with that because my X-Pro 1 is only a few months old and I love it as is. Improved AF is just extra icing.

This matters to me.
I know everyone says that Fuji's jpegs are pretty nice, but especially for indoor shots I find that shooting in RAW is critical for accurate WB/color adjustment in PP. Outdoor shooting in decent light doesn't matter as much, but indoors it definitely does, at least in my experience.
Yep the RAW issue would hold me back too. Otherwise, Fuji seems to have a done a great job listening to customer feedback and making iterative improvements. I wonder if the X100S will take the wind out of the RX1's sales, or is FF enough of a differentiator to leave room for both? Otherwise, the Fuji is comparatively a great deal, especially when you consider the RX1's accessory pricing.

Fuji has done a great job addressing customer feedback on their products. The x-pro 1 2.0 update addressed AF issues and the X100s addresses all the shortcomings of the X100. There is a new issue with RAW support but I think Fuji is working with third-parties to resolve the issue. At the end of the day I am happier with my x-pro 1 images than I ever was with my 7D images.
I don't own an X100 but I look forward to this camera. We have a baby on the way and I can see this being my favorite camera for newborn photos and many other situations. The x-pro 1 will simply provide more focal range options.

The best part about this camera is that it looks the same as the old one. Makes it much easier to sneak this one into the house.
HA.
As for what this does to X-Pro/X-E1 sales, I'm guessing not a ton. They all have similar sensors, though I do think the X100s will produce better images overall. But Fuji has been wise to keep the X100s as the 35mm effective fl camera, and the interchangeable lens cameras for all other FLs. Yeah, that'll change, but size-wise, the X100s w/ tiny lens is a totally different beast then the coming X + 23mm f/1.4. And much cheaper.
I kinda expect this to happen: New X-Pro in ~6 to 12 months w/ higher resolution (maybe 24 mp) and all the other goodies of the 2nd gen X-Trans/EXRII. Then an X-E with the same sensor as the X100s. That'll add some differentiation in the lines: fixed focal, small size, hybrid vf; small size, interchangeable, evf; larger size, higher res, interchangeable, hybrid vf.
Pretty clever way way to keep R&D/Manufacturing costs down, margins high, and differentiation clear.
In any case, I'm pretty excited where this is all going. The more time I get with my 5d2 + 35L and XE + 35 XF, the more it's clear that the Fuji is wildly promising, and ready for some use, but it can't compete with my 5d2 as a professional workhorse. What it does do is complement it-- and it shows glimmers of one day getting there (AF + sensor tech/improvements).
I'm confused as to what to do. X100 stock is drying up, I might not have the choice of both (new) when the X100S is actually available. Twice, the price, and won't open in ACR BUT much better EVF, quicker AF, improved controls, probably better details and lower noise. Bagh!
after watching the youtube video of the fuji guy x100s, I'm sold even after just owning my x100 for a week and loving it.
ready to sell it and pre-order a x100s
i like how they put M and AF-S and MF on both opposite ends
