p.1 #1 · Chickadees in the Winter Blah light......(4)
Had to get out on the first day of the New Year and shoot, I think the only light was due to some reflectance from the fresh snow. Hoping for more light but kept getting less and less. Took shelter on a porch at the local haunt and waited for the little birds to land before they then went to the feeders.
Not much DOF, not much light and then after I moved into the woods in search of recently active Pileated of which I found........................I got stuck with an 'Err 99' code that I could not clear So I stood there for 20 mins watching the Pileated and kept trying to get my machine powered up to shoot..........no luck, no Pileated images on my card At least I know where he lives now
There is lots that is not great on these and you are welcome to point that out and anything that you find that you do like too It is my initiation into posting images for 2013 and another chance to tinker with the dials in Photoshop some more!

#2 is my pick Karl, more chickadee less blah. Nice sharp details for sure, don't these guys pose nicely. That woodpecker and camera are just waiting for a little better light.

Happy New Year Karl !! Glad you made it out to shoot. I love the composition on the first one . The detail is wonderful in 2,4 and 5. Love these chickadees

I'm not going to nit the Witt but I will try to help out a dear friend I have found the mk3 and mk4 are both far better at natural ISOs. I think the first three would have given you cleaner files at 1600 rather than 1250 and 1000. That's MHO learned from experience. That said I really like the feel of 3 even though there is a bunch to nit. If I just look at it to enjoy, I enjoy it a LOT. I do love the Winter feel, I'm jealous I don't have snow to shoot in but then again I can ride my bike to work in the morning albeit at 28 or so degrees You worked for these, got out in the cold fresh air, had fun and are now sharing with friends. What could be better?

Chick A Dees! Nice set Karl. I like #2 best. A decent start to the year. I went out to a local park for a few minutes yesterday and didn't manage a single decent frame. Did get a soft image of a white weasel. Very neat to see, but not postable. But, like your piliated, I now know where it lives and will head back when I have more time to be patient.
