I took this to test the results at ISO 102,400 at Borsch, Vodka and Tears on Chapel Street in Melbourne. Anyone who has been there will know how dimly lit it is. If I had wanted to open up some of the shadows it would start to get ugly fast but this camera does amaze me.
Shot at 6400 ISO with just a tiny bit of noise reduction in post. $ for camera; this is Canon's best offering yet. Only thing missing is a swivel screen.
Double Exposure done in camera, one taken with the subject on a white backing with the exposure set at +2 on Av. The second shot was done indoors with an LED light controlling the lighting on the second subject a 2 year old Irian Jaya Python of mine. Live View to balance the image in camera before snapping it. Then presto! Back to the roots of film technique :-) who needs photoshop anymore? ;-)
I never used a 5dmiii nor a 1dx but I will say this is one of canon's best cameras. Especially considering the price. You get 5dmiii high iso performance at a MUCH cheaper price.
I would never have expected that one day I myself would test a new camera in shooting my cat, too. But I did.
Because of my lightroom 3 version is not able to read the RAW files and my version 5 copy that came with the camera for free is not installable beneath Vista, this is an out of camera JPEG in standard settings. I just converted it into B/W because of a red laundry basket in the back and rezised it to 1200x800.
The picture was shot with 24-105 wide open at ISO 10.000.
