It was a great 3 days around Socorro and Bosque last weekend and figured it is about time to finally stop lurking on FM and slink out into the open. Here's hoping I've pushed all the right buttons to get these up on FM ...
Clearly this might take a bit so C&C are much appreciated!
snow geese were pretty much right in our faces
as Will said, there's something magical about catching them in flight ...
I love the dancing
finally, even the little birds were pretty friendly - white crowned sparrow
Only the last 2 seem crisp, the others are a little less sharp. I'm not seeing detail on the brightest parts of the snow geese though most of each goose is well exposed. The sand hills starting to blast off is a fine moment captured. I like the reflections in the dance photo. Moving the sparrow out of the center will be mentioned by many people. I'm on the fence as you have a very nice diagonal that dose draw my eye to the bird.

Morris - I agree with and appreciate your CC, thanks! I might play with that sparrow a bit just to see if I can find a nice scene though there wasn't a lot to work with there. The sharpness is clearly something I want to work on.

Nice looking set Jim. Goose shot is lovely.
Thanks for the comment - I do love the dynamics in that scene though I could wish for more sharpness and the "bathtub ring" on the gooses belly might be distracting. I guess it is nature though ...

You are off to a nice start Jim. 4 is the sharpest of the set, so we know you and your gear are capable of making sharp shots. Keep shooting ~ Ron
Thanks Ron! I added #4, though it's just another "little brown bird" because of the nice sharp feather detail.

Hey Will, it was great meeting you down there and standing around and gabbing. Now that I know you can be flushed from the brush with a little Milk Stout I'll be sure to look you up again!
Beautiful set of images. Makes me want to pack my gear and head to the Bosque.
As mentioned by other posts, your sharpness is a bit off. Looking at the images, it appears your point of focus was not where it needed to be and increasing the f stop to give a deeper DOF is all that is needed to correct this.

Thanks Tim - Mark and I were out before sunrise and back from around 3:00 through sunset and saw some great changes in lighting through the day - what a great place!

I hope to see more of your posts.

Dean,
Thanks for your comments - I agree about the sharpness and hope to get back soon to try to work on bringing it in a lot. I just got the 5diii a day or so before heading down and I am very happy so far but there is clearly room to improve.
