Harlz, both. I had gone last spring when spring lupine bloomed late, I was looking to correct that this year. I hiked the mt cook sunset my first time and last year the track was closed so I had to do sunrise this year. Some of the spots (not posted) I have already gone too but I had the urge for a reshoot.... some for better light, some just to see if I could do better.
I actually conducted a workshop for landscape photographers from the Philippines based in Auckland, so afterwards I took a week trip down south. Been building a landscape portfolio of New Zealand so far I've done 13,000kms in 48 days. I'll need 12 more days next winter.

The first one's "nice", the rest are "spectacular". Well, looks like I should pick up my life savings from the bank and fullfill my dream of visiting NZ.
^ you'll love it its an awesome place. Ive had to be very mindful about the weather though, I use a variety of apps and keep on checking online at metservice.com so I don't waste any light, also, if its not possible, I try to keep my IT open so I can run from one area to another. early spring is out.... at least until nov 15. its too rainy and unpredictable.
autumn is very very settled make sure to go late autumn (last 2-3 weeks).
