Vacuum tubes, which date back to the 19th century, are a very interesting old technology. While they've been replaced by newer solid state technology in most applications, they are still prized in music where they are found in fine amplifiers for guitars and other instruments and in power amplifiers for musical reproduction.

The Western Electric 300B is a classic power tube that sounds great and gives off a beautiful blue and red glow when it's running.

Thanks for looking!

Hi ether, several years ago I picked up a used set of Wavelength Cardinal 300B amps. I like them a lot. My guitar amp is also tube driven. Old tech, but they sound nice!

I think I ready to try those super low powered amps soon.
My ProAc speakers are pretty sensitive and they match with tubes very well...though I never tried 9W amp.

Back on topic.... I think you should actually post the picture of the amp...most people would think it is something from the 50s

Nice! Fabulous photo.

I have a pair of VTL300 deluxe that take 24 total 6550 tubes... the prices of the good ones went through the roof so when I retubed lately I used high quality KT88s.. never sounded better!!

I built a large kaleidoscope and of course, I had to see what it looked like with tubes!

Nothing quite like the Classic Western Electric 300B! I am a tube lover as well. My phono stage, tuner, preamp and all of my power amplifiers are all tube driven. I use single ended 845 triodes driving my Dunlavy SCIV Signatures and at one time had Wavelength Cardinal Amps with Western Electric 300B's driving my Tannoy Monitor Golds. I miss the Wavelength amps... they were some of the best 300B amps ever made!

It's nice to see that we have a few audiophiles living among us here

Best Wishes,
Don

Beautiful image. And I certainly remember the days of vacuum tubes. Back in the days when TV's and radios were using them, I replaced many in my time.

Again, beautiful image. Thanks for sharing.
