p.1 #1 · Yongnuo YN-468 II or the 565ex

For shots of kids around the house and some outdoor nature photography on my Canon SXi whats the opinion, is it worth spending the $160 for the 565 or stick to the $80 468 flash?
So far I know the 565 is stronger, supposedly built better and supposedly a little more user friendly. The 468 is smaller to carry and does have good reviews.
Opinions?

I also heard the batteries last longer on the 565.

I was tweeting with Dave Hobby about this and he said that yongnuo is junk and he'll never use them again.

I was trying to see if he used the new 565/8 and the 622r, which are alleged to have taken care of QC problems.

I am half tempted to just spend the money on them and do a review myself.

FWIW Yongnuo gets decent reviews at Amazon.

I have read a lot of reviews about them and haven't seen any negative info. The only negatives I have seen is someone wondering how Canon lets them get away with selling exact duplicates of their speedlites and that their guide numbers are a little over-rated.

I got the 565ex and I have no issues getting it over even the 580ex II. I don't need HSS or Master capabilities for what I do though.

I've got 3 Yongnuo flashes - 460, 460-II and 565. All manual. All work fine. Total cost for all 3 was about $220 from www.aliexpress.com

David Hobby is paid by Nikon !!
The irony is that most of the people that post on his "strobist" Flickr website use Yongnuo flashes for OCF work !

(I've been using those 'junk' flashes for years with no problems!)

It is not just Dave Hobby (Is he paid by Nikon, because I know he also bought medium format and was going to tell Nikon to eat it on the D4), but a quick google shows the older models get complaints.

I'm willing to bet that just as many of those people on there use the lumopros, older canon/Nikons, and vivitars as well as they do the yongnuo.

A quick google and you'll see some of the negativity that is surrounding their older units and the Q/C of them.

take a look at the David Hobby flickr "strobist" site http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/
and see the lights described in the pics (a requirement for posting ---- a lot of Yongnuo flashes !!!!
or start a thread about Yongnuo reliability in a flash forum like
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35
hint yongnuo flashes are used heavily in OCF work and they are reliable, at least according to the users
