p.2 #1 · The diving board

If you are willing to take critique about the lighting - you have broad lit your subject. In the future, try having your subject turn his/her body "away" from the main light and his/her face towards it. That serves two purposes - makes the light on the subject's face more flattering and adds dimension/depth to both the the face and body.

BTW - there is nothing wrong with adding fill light, as long as you have your subject properly posed for the main light. Then use fill light to do just that.

Otherwise, it's not bad.

Maybe moving in a bit with a wider lens would emphasize the line of the board while also bringing out the clouds etc...

That would not be a flattering move whatsoever...closeup, wide angle portraits are probably the most unflattering images soneone could take of another. It makes prominent facial features like the nose, chin and forehead look disproportionate to the rest of the face.

Quite the opposite here - a longer telephoto lens would have worked better, from a little further away from the subject in order to capture the board as well. The longer lens is more flattering to the subject and serves to compress foreground to background.
