p.2 #1 · Selective Color Baby

Quick Comment:

At a glance the #1 image made me think: "Dead baby."

Making a client happy is all well and good...but at some point you have to ask yourself if it is worth going against your vision and what you value as good photograhpy. If it is all about the money for you, and not educating your client or risk losing that client, then do it. If your vision and how you want to do your photography is moe important then don't do it.

I choose not to do these type of things and recommend other people for this type of work.

It looks very creepy imo. I think it is because you are accentuating the warm of the leaf (with the color) agains a cold BW baby.

Sorry, first tought was "creepy" ... not just the expression, but the combination with the background. Very uncomfy to me.

The edges of the leaves are super sharp. With the color they look like they are fake. Possibly by desaturating them a bit it might help with the effect you are looking for. I would also limit it to the leaf by the baby's left hand.

Even if *they* like it, do you really want their friends thinking, "dead baby" and "creepy"?

I wouldn't

It is easy to fall back on the "I don't like it, but they do so..." defense, but (as has been mentioned), it is *very* important that *you* stick to your artistic expression and not sell out.

Remember, even a GWC can take a picture better than most and the resultant image will please the subject, but certainly you want to differentiate yourself from that stigma, right?
