Curtiss -- I think you've handled it perfectly. You made your position clear that she signed off on it being fine, but you left yourself in a helpful and honorable position instead of casting her to the wolves.
Roger -- I see how you got your great success in business! I don't think you can renegotiate eBay sales to a rental status after the sale. You either accept the piece back and refund the total, mutually agree to a partial refund, or go through the arbitration process.
You're too nice. Just tell her that she bought it as is and there's no warranty on 2nd hand cameras sold privately and she already said it was working fine.
Tell her to read the manual. 90% of "OMG, my camera is broken!" is because folks don't know how to use them. I can think of several situations that can cause her symptoms, from camera body to lens.

Well, to be fair, the AF issue that she described is pretty specifi, down to the "solution".
She says that the camera will lock focus and confirm with the red light, but as she continued to press the shutter, it would not take the picture. She said she would have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it to work properly.
That exact same thing has happened to me as well when I was using my 7D with the 580EXII flash. I also had to turn the 7D off and on.
I may not be a professional photographer but I think I know enough to know when my camera is acting up, and I think hers is an real issue as well.
That said, it's the risk of buying ANY 2nd hand electronic item. They can break down literally anytime. So I don't think it's fair to go back to the seller after 4 weeks regardless of how often she said she has used it. It just creates a situation where neither party can really trust the other.
