The conclusion I drew from your other post was that the "Leica look" may not be unique, but Leica's lens quality across their entire range certainly was. In other words, almost all modern Leica's are outstanding though they may be outstanding in different ways.
+1
Also not the conclusion I came to.
Of course you can produce excellent images with the Fuji, just as you can with the M9. A significant difference is in the user experience and what the user's expectations are for that experience. The M system is great if you want bare basics and very few layers of electronics between you and your subject. That is extremely difficult to find nowadays in a current production camera/system. For some people, it's worth having to spend about 5x more than what an XP1 and lens will cost.
Also, it's interesting to see just how much there is to photograph where you live when you actually start looking. No need for exotic vacations (though they definitely provide other benefits).

That is very interesting, Doug. I confess not to know anything about the Fuji IQ, having no interest in it, I didn't follow the pertaining threads! Quite surprising actually.
Yeah, not to get too into it here, because it is a highly debated topic in several threads, but theSuede sums it up what is going on here: link
X-Trans is the biggest reason that I haven't purchased an X-Pro1 to replace my NEX-7. I use the X100 for everyday and street stuff, and the NEX-7 for more purposeful, static stuff, and, from what I've seen, I prefer the NEX-7's output at lower ISOs. That being said, if raw converters become better at dealing with X-Trans files, it may be "good enough" for me. The X-Pro1 and 35/1.4 are really tempting to me.

Thank you, Douglas. That was a very interesting analysis by the suede, as always.
