Marketing is what it is. It may make sense to some and not other. What really matters is the final product. We'll see if Sigma will deliver with this lens. I don't care what they put on it as far as a marketing gimmick as long as the lens performs well!

never had the guts to pull the trigger on a sigma lens. this one, though, has me excited - from the MTF and design (looks more like a Hasselblad mock up than a sigma!) with a price point of probably a grand? if the reviews are good, the QC spot on (perhaps the most commented topic on sigma lenses), and it's IQ is great (the big three in criteria), perhaps i'll bite. The Art thing? who cares if it works...
hopefully it's not just marketing and sigma actually is serious about making consistently good lenses...
I bought a Sigma 10-20mm for my 40D years ago - and it was AS good as a my Canon 17-40L and the 10-22mm EF-S lens. I have no hesitation about buying Sigma glass
I’m sure this isn’t what you’re looking for, but photokinaTV had an interview with Kazuto Yamaki, Sigma’s CEO, wherein the latter showed off some USAF 1951 charts in various states of focus, to highlight the supposed lack of longitudinal (axial) chromatic aberration.
