Hi,
This is my first post on FM forum.
I was able to get the 15mm Zeiss from Bel Air Camera in California. I feel like I won the lottery when I received the lens.
On my D800 the lens is stunning. I also have a Nikon 14-24 but the Zeiss is going to be my go to wide angle. I will try to post a few shots with it in the coming days.
Congratulations! I hope the others waiting for the lens will start getting theirs as well.
I posted these samples in other threads, but why not post them here too. Not necessarily the best use of an UWA lens, but I'm having a ball. Both shots from Harpers Ferry West Virginia.
Beautiful, Tim! You manage to minimize the sometimes unnatural feel of "too wide angle" with 15 mm!
Exciting days, guys!
I got mine today, but only made a few snapshots after work while still daylight. Remembered how insanely difficult it is to compose with this FOV, but also very fun.
D800E, f/5.6. Close focus (infinity and then a notch back) for a hint of BG separation.
Congratulations! I hope the others waiting for the lens will start getting theirs as well.

Did some quick snaps during lunch hour. Unfortunately, it's a crappy day here in Minneapolis but I can tell this lens is going to be a lot of fun. Much better than the Canon 14mm II.

Has anybody invested in the Zeiss UV filter for this lens? I am considering it but like anything else Zeiss, it's expensive.
Steve
i'm a big believer in filters for protection so i got the zeiss UV filter for my 15mm ZE to have a matching pair.
while optically i'm sure that the filter is top notch i'm not so pleased with the finishing of the zeiss filters (not just the 95mm). they look as though they are made by two different companies.
the black surface of the filter is a slightly different finish to the lens and for the price i would have expected the text to be engraved and painted, not just silk screened on. the text on almost all of my zeiss filters is flaking off.
while this is the same as my other B+W and Hoya filters i would have expected the zeiss to be at least up to the standards of the old Contax filters and use the same surface on the filter as the lens and have a nicely engraved text.
its not as if they don't do this on the lens hood and lens body.
i've even toyed with the idea of getting an old contax 95mm UV filter and seeing how that works on the 15mm.
