Bumping this thread in the hopes someone can point me to info on how a Canadian CPS member can actually get a discount on new bodies/lenses. The CPS Canada web site mentions nothing about gear discounts at all.

Exactly what I mentioned in a previous post on this thread. Henry's in Waterloo, ON offers no discount. I'm still waiting to hear back from Camera Canada too. We spend the winter in the USA so I checked with both B+H and Adorama last week regarding CPS discounts and was told no to a CPS discount at both places other than perhaps $300 on what would be a $20K purchase. Right now the best deal I can find (without CPS) is $2000 or 10% through a friend working at Amazon in the USA.
Still looking and I'll report back here if I find anything, secret handshake or otherwise!

Congrats on getting a nice discount from Henry's. Guess it depends on which store you go to. Frustrating for sure though.
No, it doesn't matter which store you go to... they will all sell to you for the same price if you are a CPS member. Nothing frustrating about it at all.

Sorry, but I am a CPS gold member and Henry's in Waterloo wouldn't offer me any discount at all. And therein lays the frustration. Just telling it like it is.

So how do you get the discount then? There's nothing even mentioned in Canon literature! As someone who's buying a 1DX soon I imagine I can save quite a bit of money.

I get the impression we have to rattle doors until we find a deal we can live with. You are correct that there is nothing mentioned in the Canon CPS membership literature. Seems to be more of a who you know thing than anything else. Unless of course there is indeed a secret handshake.

Just go to your favourite store and tell them you want to make a CPS purchase; once you give them your CPS number they will sell you Canon pro gear at dealer cost.
If you're dealing with an inexperienced store clerk that doesn't know how to do a CPS sale, you may need to speak to the manager - and if that fails, just buy from a reputable store instead.

This is exactly correct. Did it yesterday for a CPS purchase.

Maybe they don't like to ship CPS Canada labels to Arizona. They probably wouldn't work there.
Florida is practically a Canadian province already, just a few minor administrative issues remain to be sorted out, such as renaming the Governor to Premier, and adjusting the height of mast flags thru the state.....err....the province of Florida.
Perhaps Arizona is the next state to fall into the Canadian fold.....for one, we can sure supply them with all the fresh water they'd ever need.

More likely the Arizona police will soon be stopping Canadians and demanding to see their "papers"...
