p.2 #1 · Anyone got any good stories from this weekend?
Must have been a weekend for everyone... My bride this weekend was cool with me but nuts to everyone else.
She was all about photos, loved getting them taken, booked 4 hours to get them done. 2 hours before the wedding and 2 hours after. Pretty awesome in my eyes But what I did not know, she gave her bridal party a 19 page itinerary on the photo process for them and another 10 page for how to act at the reception and what not. She also gave the DJ the play list for every song and when to start and stop the entire night. So at exactly 10:31pm )as an example) such and such song would play and the bride would be on the dance floor ready for her que to begin her thing.
It was odd for sure. Best part was she would be with me taking pictures. Happy as can be. Then 2 seconds later turn to someone with a devil grin and bitch them out. Then turn right back to me and say ok lets go do blah blh a blah. Again happy as can be.
I was scared shitless to leave at the end of the night thinking she would turn on me after seeing her be rude to guests and friends. Nope, I got a hug, kiss on cheek and said she had fun and looks forward to the photos.

5 minutes into the ceremony, we had to stop everything and take cover in some protected hallways...there was a tornado coming right at the church. This was actually the first wedding ever in the church building. It was newly built, because the old one had recently been destroyed...by another tornado. It was headed right for us, but it began to dissipate a few miles from us. As it passed over us, they saw just some trailing wisps.
I was one of the handful of people running around who did not take shelter. unfortunately, there was such heavy cloud cover that you could not see anything, really.
p.2 #8 · Anyone got any good stories from this weekend?
I drove to my event, which was an hour and a half away, started to unpack my gear, went to setup my off camera flash, and realized that I forgot my bag with the hotshoes that connected flash/pocketwizards to the lightstands. I suddenly went into panic mode because A) I couldn't go back home and get it, B) the reception hall was awfuly dark, and C) there was an important dance group that was coming from the UK just to perform at this gig. I did a search for camera stores in the area, and only thing that came up were 3 walgreens, and one Ritz camera. I called Ritz and asked the girl if they had any cold shoe mount, and it seemed as if I asked some quantum physics problem, cause she had no clue. I started to panic a even more now. I only had 30 minutes, and had to set up the lights. I then decided that I was just going to go to Home Depot, maybe find some clamps, and pray for the best. Home Depot had clamps, but not double clamps that would attach two things together. I ended up finding these a metal screw lock things that's for woodworking, got some mini bungee cords, and pulled a McGuyver on the lightstand.
Needless to say, I managed to keep the flashes securely attached to the thing, although I was only able to use 1 off camera light since there was no PC-mini adapters (my hotshoes have them built in). Later that night, I had to bounce the flash, so I actually just took everything apart, and used only duct-tape to hold it in place, which worked just as well.
Moral of the story, always think on your feet, regardless of how bad the situation can be.
