IMO the OM-D E_M5 has the AF chops (along with its great in body stabilization) to support a native 400mm prime lens should anyone deign to produce one. Me, I'd settle for 300mm or even 200mm f/4 fer cryin' out loud! Jeesh!
It does NOT have the AF chops when it comes to AI Servo AF, and as BIF shooters know, 500-800mm is nice to have.

Folks are finding ways to improve the AI Servo performance of the E-M5. May still not be sufficient for BIF at 800mm effective FOV (no evidence personally) but there are claims of improvement for sports at shorter FL. See this thread:

Even 400 might be a little on the short side. All my 400mm BIFs needed to be near to 100% crops for a decent size. So, only great glass works.
That would be really cool tho... Having a native µ4/3 400mm or 500mm at under f/4 with APO like qualities!
Also, while I'm not sure what you guys are meaning on the topic of AF vs. MF, I think well over 50% of the most awesome BIFs I've seen were achieved via MF. It's not that hard really. I mean if a "birther moron" like me can do it I guess anyone can. All mine were by MF - I actually like it more. It turns the hobby into a real sport. If I missed a shot on an AF system I'd be cursing the camera. But it's not like that with MF. It reminds my a lot of hunting actually - only without having to kill anything (besides batteries)!

I would even be happy with a 400 f4 or 500 f5.6.

No they can't. I can't even do it with an optical viewfinder and a DSLR.
Please post some links to these awesome BIF shots taken with MF on an OM-D.
